Read the reports on the time interval in which this happened. And even if - then the discontinuation of /at least) KFW 55 should have been brought forward without further ado. The wave of outrage would have been the same, because builders expected a different application deadline.

Ideally, the current status of the pot would be published. Then everyone would clearly know when it gets tight. Otherwise, I still firmly assume that a large part was applied for in advance; otherwise, the volume of 2 years cannot be explained. Does the grant actually expire after a certain period if it is not used?

That was my thought as well, but wouldn't I then have to hire an energy consultant on suspicion to calculate a fake property?

The rough timeline was: Judgment of the Federal Constitutional Court on more climate protection leads to hectic activity at Altmaier and Scholz to loosen up more coal for Kfw55, although their own experts advise against it (standard, more sensible would be KfW40 and renovations). Reason for the gift: the elections. The Ministry of Economy had calculated with manageable additional costs. It was clear that the whole thing was to be discontinued after the elections. (Altmaier denies that the discontinuation was clear before the elections)

What happened in November. Without transitional solutions or outlook on how to proceed.

Leads to panic and an unprecedented flood of applications.

On Friday, Habeck still tries to at least collect the money for the applications submitted. Lindner refuses, no support from Scholz.

This Wednesday Habeck presents a key point paper. 55ers, which are still outstanding, are probably only to be approved in hardship cases, the rest should be offered a loan but without subsidy. Apparently, only 4,000 applications from private builders are affected after all.

No agreement on how the funding will continue, whether mainly for renovations or also for new buildings. Agreement that the systematics need to be adjusted.

The question is how much actually needs to be pre-calculated or if it is sufficient to aim for the standard. For standardized houses, there is basically no need to do extensive calculations, and even for non-standardized ones, it is not rocket science. My general contractor could already tell me during the offer phase that the wall would be sufficient if he installed a slightly thicker XPS under the floor slab. Certainly, there are cases with complex building structures that require a lot of calculations, but that is not the norm. But I was thinking less about the small single-family house builders and more about something like housing associations. If you put up 6 blocks consecutively at one location, then you can also submit the applications for those who will only start in 2 years.

The ministry was only informed by the KfW on Friday about the extreme flood of applications in the first half of January, crisis meeting over the weekend, application stop on Monday. It was stated like this in [Handelsblatt].
