No, that is the completely wrong approach. Funding must be linked to the purpose. If I want to create living space, I have to promote multi-storey residential buildings - regardless of who constructs them. If I want real progress in CO2 emissions, I have to penalize new buildings (single-family houses) or set the bar very high and support the existing stock, where the polluters sit in the form of, for example, oil heating systems. Targeted and purposeful funding, no shotgun approach like recently. What use is a 55 subsidy when 70 is already the standard and in prefab house construction 55 is practically unavoidable. Then also as a grant, which those who are building anyway gladly take without having done much for it.

I do believe it will come back. The wave of outrage is just too big now, and as a new government, you want to shine. But with EH55, I wouldn't expect anything anymore; it was supposed to expire anyway next week. Maybe with EH40, 40+ will probably come back but certainly significantly reduced. And I can well imagine that it will then be more strongly limited in time and phased out piece by piece every year and completely eliminated in 2-4 years. In the past, multi-story residential construction was very successful in creating social hotspots. The currently common flat-roof stepped blocks that are puked out en masse will be considered architectural sins in a few decades just like the prefabricated buildings of the past. Instead of subsidies, it would be important that politics at all levels accept the problem that there is too little living space and that areas must be created for it. Without realizing eco-dreams like plus-energy, biodiversity, or car-free neighborhoods. The fuss about the planned Hafner district here in Konstanz is symptomatic of how no living space is created even though it is urgently needed. Currently, the problem is not money but that any development becomes possible at all.

Parts of the "traffic light coalition" actually wanted to cut unnecessary subsidies and overcome the previously prevailing lethargy. A good opportunity. We will see. Voter gifts usually come before the election, not after... KFW 55 was already properly announced to end at the end of January. That triggered the rush, which has now led to a flood of applications and thus an extremely quickly emptied fund. That won't come back, especially since around €6 billion were "unplanned" injected in January, which also fizzled out (as I read). Maybe there will be something in new construction, but certainly no longer standards as easy to achieve as KFW 55, maybe passive house. At least, that's how I would like it.

I have full understanding for that. I’m no better and built new myself because I don’t feel like renovating. However, I didn’t bring up any environmental arguments.

The abrupt stop is of course ridiculous. You’re right and no, there is nothing reprehensible about it. Many do that, and I would probably consider it too, but you are building an apartment for your mother that is only possible in terms of equipment/size with money from the general public. And sorry, I find that reprehensible. That is a luxury problem from the highest shelf. The funding is actually not intended for something like that.

I myself live here in the commuter belt and know what you’re talking about. But there are still plenty who can afford it. Otherwise, the prices wouldn’t be where they are. And if I look at my circle of friends, it’s no wonder why it’s too expensive. Blinded by social media when it comes to equipment and no motivation to do it yourself.

With some compromises, you can still own your own property. Just without the 2k rain shower. That’s the joke. The funding is used as embellishment in many cases.

That’s of course true. But then you don’t have to bring up the environment. That’s exactly what funding should be for. Then gladly even twice as high. Because those are saved emissions that can actually make a difference. And not 5m³ gas less per year.

I thought those are still being reviewed? At least that was the case earlier... I haven’t read the whole thread though.

That’s simply wrong. You yourself say you just build a level "worse." Basically, you contradict yourself.

The government has been in office for a few months and messes up one thing after another. The best, in my opinion, is our sleeping pill of a health minister. When I see him on talk shows, I wonder from which institution he escaped. How the election went is well known. Unfortunately, there is a lack of alternatives in politics. We now have to live with it.

You’re absolutely right, of course, and I expressed myself poorly. The thing is, in my opinion, this funding was way too often used for upgrading and the cost/benefit ratio was terrible. Somewhere there was a very nice comparison regarding the environmental balance (old building renovation vs new build). You yourself also explained in your post as an example how it would make sense.

I just read in the W..........e the example of a guest author who spent 11,000 euros on an energy consultation that she no longer needs. She gets 8,000 euros of those 11,000 euros back from the state. For a worthless document. The difference of 3,000 euros is apparently not so bad, as she will now not have to build her office building after 40+ and will thus save money elsewhere.
