Grandma would have to live somewhere (barrier-free) without you as well. So she will have to be able to afford rent. One way or another, otherwise she would be homeless.

Of course no one, because I don’t think it’s normal to give away a new apartment to elderly people who can no longer manage on their own. It’s nothing else. And yes, you have to be able to afford this generosity tough as nails. Even with regular paying tenants, a granny flat in a new building is more of a loss-making business.

I have a question that I don't really know where else to put...

Since unfortunately there is nothing available at the moment, we are now currently looking at what we can/should do...

We want to build 140-150 sqm, controlled residential ventilation is fixed. Now the question arises whether to go for Standard 40 or 55... There might possibly be a connection obligation to district heating (biogas from several farmers) (prices of course unknown). If that doesn't happen, it will be an air-water heat pump.

Our builder charges about 20-23k for the jump from 55 to 40.

Is it possible to recoup the additional costs over a lifetime? I have also read that district heating is usually significantly more expensive than a heat pump – does anyone have experience with this?

Thank you very much

I also find the appearance of Hauskauf87 somewhat unsympathetic. The step from the anxious and depressed rollback person who reconsiders their greed for money (in September) to the ETF major investor is only one KfW subsidy away. ;) With regard to the mood of some in the topic, who currently have to give up their dream (due to less luck in the “drawing”), I think a bit more restraint would do you, Hauskauf87, good.

Most likely not. Heating costs would have to rise significantly for it to be worthwhile.
