I've already written this somewhere in this thread. A Baukindergeld without connection to the building plot is a subsidy for structurally weak regions. As sad as it is, you simply cannot build near most metropolitan areas with this income. Unless there is plenty of equity capital available from the family.
I therefore found the whole program highly antisocial, even if the description sounds great, of course.

That depends on the funding objective. If the goal is to generate new, energy-efficient living space, funding existing buildings is pointless. Existing buildings were subsidized (substantially) for energy-efficient renovation.
If the aim is to help everyone become homeowners, there is no need to establish new grant programs; instead, existing taxes should simply be reduced, e.g., property transfer tax on private real estate purchases.

I doubt that abolishing or reducing the real estate transfer tax helps at all. In the current market, any created leeway is immediately converted into higher prices. Ultimately, only the seller benefits from this. To increase the home ownership rate, it is probably more helpful to lower property prices, for example by making less expensive regulations and designating more building land. This, of course, conflicts with other goals ([Naturschutz], ...).

And I think that's absolute nonsense. In 2020, we had a net income of €5000 and our taxable income according to the tax declaration was €80,000. We are still far from the €105,000 that we would be allowed for Baukindergeld with 2 children. And unbelievably, we manage to build in the Munich area with that. Even with a basement... So no, I can't agree with you.

Any form of subsidy only helps temporarily and is just a voter gift. Whether it's Baukindergeld, homeownership allowance, or whatever else it's called. This is and has been priced in, just like "upgrades" on KFW level XY. That is simply a fundamental problem with subsidies.

An existing property is indeed subsidized if it is energetically renovated. A pure purchase grant should never be the subsidy. Your young existing property was probably already subsidized during construction. Why should the taxpayer pay twice then?
