Legally, you have little chance...

But you have two options

- Consider the matter a personal defeat and, with your floor plan that you already have, canvass general contractors in the area for a new offer.

- Get annoyed daily, try to go the legal route in a bad mood and pissed off... which, in the current situation, costs time and money and will probably not lead to homeownership any faster than option 1...

With some things you just have to accept and not waste energy on the why or this injustice... that won’t get you anywhere... Try that in everyday life...

We (I) would also like to have a basement, KNX, Automower or a helicopter... I could of course get annoyed every day about why not or just not...

Does that mean the construction company "wouldn't even have to" inform the client about it? (Most probably do anyway.)

Well, legally probably(!) not. In principle, there is no longer any business relationship. Of course, in reality it will be different.

I am not a lawyer - so these are just assumptions.

What do you mean by that? So far, I assumed it was good for the builders since they can now sell the same houses for more money. (At least that was the case with us after the price guarantee expired.) Are you expecting a drop in demand?

If they can sell it. In fact, for such providers, a larger portion of the existing orders has probably just collapsed and needs to be renegotiated. Considering the price increases in the meantime and the lost subsidies, that quickly amounts to an effective surcharge of 50k+. Combined with rapidly rising interest rates, this is likely to make it unaffordable for some (because you can no longer find a bank) and simply too expensive for others.

When and where did I mention not having a general contractor anymore? We have had one practically since 2019 and now even with a contract. As I already said, our focus in the selection was on the image of the general contractor, not on pseudo catalogs.

I also consider option 2 to be relatively one-dimensional, as one thing has nothing to do with the other — at least in our case. Because we can still afford to continue without funding. Now everyone knows that we won’t swallow the pill without tasting it first. Will the "additional psychological burden" throw us off track? Certainly not.

We can also distinguish everyday life from life phases such as building a house quite well.

But everyone has to know for themselves how they go through life.

For the exchange in this thread, I also do not consider it productive to go deeper and deeper into our individual situation and clarify assumptions, that helps no one.
