They hardly matter. But there are heavyweights like Vonovia/Deutsche Wohnen, LEG, Adler, TAG, Saale, Vivawest or hundreds of municipal and cooperative housing companies. Billions in subsidies are used there to renovate existing buildings or to construct new ones. Who else builds or renovates, except a few single-family home builders?

And from this direction, there is currently strong headwind...

For example, I missed the wallbox subsidy by two days, even though we have an electric car, while some just took wallboxes freely, the Saxon subsidy for the storage system also passed us by, and so on. I don't understand this argument. The people who build a new house don't "have" relatively much; they go into debt and usually pay off the house their whole lives, typically as a couple. They are still far from "having" it in the sense of "owning" it.

I meant that it already takes two good earners and/or a cushion of equity to take on debt starting at 500k. A family with a lower net income might rather afford a property from 1970 that still needs a lot of work but can maybe be bought for 299k. And I would find it fairer if the latter family received a subsidy for a new heating system, and not the former family for making their already tight house even tighter. ;)
