I feel like I messed everything up. From the beginning, we planned squarely and did not consider what you said. We started planning squarely with the house planner and then simply stuck with the architect as well.

Yes, that was an important criterion, right? These are just priorities you set. It is perfectly legitimate to build a cube house if you like one. For that, you just have to swallow a few frogs elsewhere. But these frogs are not life-threatening. I have the feeling you are getting worked up over something that doesn’t have to be such a big deal. If you ask 100 people here, you will get 100 answers. What matters is what you can take from it as important for yourself. So stay relaxed. If you still want to have a cube house, everything looks quite okay.

So it has probably been said before, but for me it makes no sense at all to place the living room after Easter. Best to swap it with the kitchen or just mirror it once! Then at least it is in the west!

Would it be possible to redo everything now and go for a more elongated house?

Honestly, I don’t feel like replanning everything anymore. We like a lot about the house. It could have been that we would have started planning completely differently in the beginning if we had known, for example, about the neighbor’s garage. Yes, we wanted a city villa and something square. We find that very chic and it was always what we wanted to build.

I’ve thought about placing wardrobe furniture if you put the WC door downwards and the utility room door further up. Then you can put something 1m long. And then I’ll put a cabinet next to the stairs as you suggested and hopefully get from the kitchen to the storage room under the stairs. It also brings some life to the long hallway if I place something here and there.
Washing machine + dryer will stay in the utility room. Then we keep our desired half-landing staircase and just take a laundry bag with a handle and carry it down safely. So the laundry doesn’t bother us.

But the sofa was such a drama here. We don’t want to put it in the middle of the room, placing it between windows isn’t our thing either, and my husband doesn’t want to block windows. That’s why the sofa is now where it is.
And because of the drainage, I rearranged a few rooms upstairs. Now we don’t have a bathroom labyrinth anymore but rather a small shower bathroom and a large family bathroom. All without that slanted 45-degree wall.
Besides, we like having an office now and there’s only a bit of space left (3.3m – sorry 11fant) and there you could either make a not so deep kitchen or a sofa corner. And since we want a big kitchen and think that 3.3m is more than enough for a sofa, that’s how we decided. It’s only important that we have 4m distance to the TV. We have that. And when that little wall at the sofa is gone, the living room doesn’t end there. You can still put an armchair between the dining room and living room.
And the dining area is big or long enough for a bigger table. I also like that.

Now I’m afraid it might get too dark in the cozy corner. Hence the windows. And I also wanted to give the dining area a window from another side apart from south because I was afraid the south windows alone would not be enough.

Long story short.
Do you have any ideas how I could solve the window problem?
And does the neighbor’s garage take the sun if I’m reflecting back again?
Because the neighbor to the east could also build a garage there. You don’t know that. But it will be deeper.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the neighboring garage. That's just how it is. I wouldn't do without the window facing that direction. You can always plant something in front of the garage and have a view of greenery. Light will still come in, and it's better than having no window. I also think it's good if not all the windows face south, otherwise you have to sit in the dark all day because it gets too hot. Less direct daylight in the TV corner is not dramatic. It's not an enclosed room anyway.
