No, we are completely flexible here. Visually, we find folded plate staircases brilliant, but I guess it might not be worth it for us in terms of price (however, I haven’t requested any prices yet).

What kind of staircase would you suggest if we had free choice?

Makes sense. If not floor-to-ceiling, then possibly wider? 1m height not floor-to-ceiling could possibly seem a bit puny? The building expert already calculated for me that with only this window, there probably isn’t enough window area for the bathroom. How do I solve this problem?

Thanks for the drawing. If it brings advantages, one could certainly move the wall of the living room door a bit further upwards on the plan, then you would have about 50 cm more space for the staircase. Would that make sense?

Of course, that was a stupid idea of mine, since the upper floor is also affected ;) However, 10-20cm would work, and accordingly shift everything on the upper floor 10-20cm further up in the plan and thus forgo those 10-20 cm in the children's room (which would then cost about 0.5-1 sqm of space per children's room, bathroom and bedroom would have correspondingly more). Would that already bring some improvement for the stairs or is it pointless?

Alternatively, one could also build the house 10-20 cm longer, which of course leads to higher overall costs, so preferably not.

20 cm, so 150x295x150 would make a difference.

On the ground floor rather less impact, on the upper floor you should actually shift the wall to the children's rooms by 15 to 20 cm.

A floor height of 280 cm allows a maximum clear room height of about 250 to 254 cm. Need to clarify exactly because of floor construction etc.

Slightly wider windows instead of floor-to-ceiling would be one option. But you also have to figure it out exactly because of the sloping roof. And in the children's rooms, you should ideally leave 60 cm distance from the window to the walls toward the parents' room or small utility room. Space for placing wardrobes.

Hello,

after a long conversation, we have decided the following changes together with the planner:

- controversial topic, but the staircase will now not be a concrete staircase, but an open one (which exact type will be seen, we just like the look better)
- the knee wall will be raised by 0.2m, creating more space in the bathroom and children's rooms
- the gable will be 0.3m wider, creating more space in the children's rooms and ensuring symmetry of the house from the garden side (on the ground floor there will probably be a set of three doors in the middle, each 0.9m wide; we don't like sliding doors)
- the new space in the children's rooms will be taken away again, as the staircase and therefore the corridors on the upper floor will move up by 0.2cm, so that the staircase can be planned a bit more generously. This also makes the utility room on the upper floor larger, so that more cabinets can be placed there. Furthermore, the passage area in the walk-in closet will be increased from 0.9 to 1.1, which is noticeably more comfortable.
- Storage room upper floor: We tend to omit this. Due to the higher knee wall, cabinets or a dresser could be placed there, and a large roof window would continue to illuminate the hallway.
- Two windows on the ground floor north side will be wider (1.26m instead of 1m)
- Instead of a door + window in the entrance area, there will now be a door with a side panel. This ensures that the right corner after entering can be better used for the wardrobe.

These were the key points. Any comments? :)

Regards
Tego
