I agree regarding the window . Better to have it than not, and indirect light is still light. I would even add a west-facing window in the kitchenette. How that looks depends on the kitchen. The neighbor's garage is annoying because it's so close, but not a disaster. You plant something there, and soon you’re looking at blossoms and leaves. From experience, I recommend planting early – it takes time.
I discussed it again with my husband. Our gut feeling says mirror it. Can you plant whatever you want by the garage? What if the neighbor wants to paint the garage in a few years and can’t paint that side because everything is planted? Does he have to approve the planting?
Do you think the windows are okay if we mirror it? Enough on the south side or too much on the west side? We would probably always use Venetian blinds as privacy protection. We are afraid of having too little light. On the south side, we have a patio door, then two windows, then one again. That is due to the kitchen half-island. I hope that one door in the dining area is enough? Do you think there is too much on the west with the double door and the glass element?
