it is supposed to be a Platsa cabinet from Ikea, that is not a built-in closet and certainly not meant to last forever, we have the same one in the hallway.

What does it look like if you place a wardrobe in a niche specially designed for it, with 2cm baseboards on the left and right serving as dust collectors and corner fillers? Baseboards are quick to install and can always be added later if you ever decide you don’t want a wardrobe anymore.
