Thank you for the keen interest in my construction project. Nice that so many are still involved.
We only want floor-to-ceiling windows in the living area because we are building a city villa in style. The terrace will only be on the south side. This double window door in the west leads to a path, but not a terrace. Therefore, it is mainly there for light and will hardly be used. Also, the door on the far right in the south behind the dining table is there for light and symmetry and is not really meant for going outside.
For completeness, I am attaching the current draft anyway. There will soon be a more up-to-date draft, but maybe you have ideas that I can quickly pass on.
The current house dimensions 10.3x10.8 are apparently not allowed according to the development plan. In order not to mess up the floor plan, we will go to 10.8x10.8. The hallway now seen will be widened on the ground floor. It is currently too narrow. It should be 20 cm wider. 15 cm will then go to the left into the utility room and 15 cm to the right into the living room.
My husband has also expressed concerns about the dark cozy corner. I thought it wouldn’t be so dark because of the windows around. Now I am worried about it after all. I also don’t want to sit in a dark hole.
Maybe it’s enough to simply place the sofa against the wall opposite? Then the double window door in the west would be in the line of sight? Or would the solution really be a window in the TV corner?
How about a narrow tall 76x2m fixed glass element in the TV corner as I drew in red? Would that bring enough light?
We don’t like panoramic windows that are elongated and quite high up. I don’t want a window behind the sofa. And indeed, the neighbors are not far away to the east and west.
And by the way: the floor plan will still be mirrored to make it easier to drive into the carport. Then there will no longer be a 1-meter difference between carport/garage and it will probably be cheaper regarding earthworks. That means we will only have windows in the living area on the south and east. I hope it won’t be too dark if we no longer have a west window.
