3.20 m structural measure is already quite tight. That leaves about 66-67 cm on each side. Now that you are young, of course, it's still manageable, but just try to handle a walker or any other mobility limitation in old age. For me, 3.60 m would really be the minimum size, but you have to weigh that yourselves. Large children's rooms are of course good. But 18 sqm are also large; it doesn't have to be 20 sqm right away. But of course, everything depends on the position of the stairs, and if you shift them, the kitchen will probably become too narrow. If sink and cooking are to be on the island, I would also try to go for a 3.2 m island length. The passage after plastering would then be 95 cm. I think that's still okay. However, the aisle spacing of 1.50 m is somewhat too large. Test that. About 1.10 m is recommended. You might also consider accessing the storage room under the stairs from the kitchen. The door should also fit there under the stairs. Will these be casement windows or doors?

Normally, you buy/order your kitchen using the floor plan. Afterwards, the kitchen salesman creates an installation plan for you, showing where which sockets need to be.

Our new kitchen also has a 3m cooking-sink island, so I claim that this is enough. Don’t you have any other appliances like a coffee machine, toaster? For that, a niche in the tall cabinet wall is suitable.

Electricity, gas, water, everything is there in the kitchen. Everything in the wrong place, not nice. It is quite surprising how faithfully construction workers suddenly follow plans when they are wrong or outdated (the plans, hehe).

What exactly does the plan say? – ridge direction, house orientation, house axis, ... – could you make the house 10.30 x 10.80 and have the ridge in the short direction? – or understandably you don’t want a roof ridge and prefer a tent roof?

We also have 1.5m and at first I also thought that was too much, but by now I really like not having to squeeze in such a narrow aisle with someone else. I probably wouldn’t go below 1.4m.

It probably depends on whether it is a peninsula or an island, whether work is being done on both sides or not...

I think it fits. Some forum members already talked me out of the shower on the ground floor that I wanted for old age. I’m not building for old age. Otherwise, I would have to apply it everywhere. For example, I didn’t pay attention to turning circles anywhere. My husband told me just yesterday that I could also sleep with my walker in a child’s room. Those rooms won’t be needed anymore eventually and are big enough.

Regarding the distance to the kitchen unit. It is recommended to have at least 1.20 m to be able to open two opposite drawers; ideally it should be 1.5 m. I have the space for that, so I will use it fully.

Yes, French casement doors are planned. Do you have any tips?

I’ll better have the half-island properly drawn into the floor plan.

Honestly, I have no idea what exactly is on the plan. The house saleswoman double-checked for us. We actually wanted a tent roof from the start. So it’s okay, and I’m happy about a somewhat wider hallway now, since it is currently too narrow. But you are right, I won’t get much more for the higher measure.
