Here, for example, I am confused because I rarely or never find this in house catalogs or on Instagram and wondered why one might not arrange it that way. I don’t want to build something "weird" without realizing it.

What do you say to that?

Also, I am not so confident in matters of taste. No problem with floor coverings, etc., but how to arrange windows and sanitary facilities so that it looks good: no idea. Also regarding windows, no idea. For the toilet, we just decided on a smaller window and hope it looks good. We just paid attention to a similar ratio of the sides as with the other windows.

So if there are small things to consider, then these are the following points:

1. If the toilet is arranged as shown, you have the installation casing shelf free for any decoration. You do not have that under the window.
2. A washbasin does not require such an installation wall. So it would cost you 20 cm of space if you mount the toilet and washbasin on one side.
3. The majority of Earth’s inhabitants are right-handed, which is why it is more comfortable to mount the toilet paper roll to the left of the toilet. This also clearly speaks in favor of the toilet positioning as shown in your plan.
4. When sitting on the toilet, you look into the room (as shown in your plan), which is also better than looking at a wall.

No, I would do it like we did. Our toilet is 1.70m x 1.70m and the toilet and sink are on one wall; in your case, the toilet would be on the left wall and then the sink. The window could then start lower and also be bigger if desired.

Best regards
Sabine

Who needs such a big window in the bathroom? Not to mention that it becomes too tight on the wall [planlinks].

I think we have it now. Views are also consistent.
Thank you for convincing me to give room to the closet. I will definitely enjoy the space.
In the end, the final version doesn’t differ too much from post #1.
But it is the little things that make me not regret a lot.

- we removed the third unnecessary shower and have a sufficiently large closet
- we have a reasonable access to the terrace, which is large enough and not blocked by a sofa or dining table
- we no longer have terrace doors on the west side. Luckily, because you can’t step outside there anyway
- we let the west sun in and avoided mirroring
- we have enough light throughout the house and windows that are as tall as possible. We surely won’t be sitting in the dark. We even have a window in the closet. Great for decoration.
- we removed the unnecessary dressing room and now have a large bedroom. We can place a 2m wide bed and have more than 60cm clearance on each side.
- we planned the bathrooms stacked on top of each other
- children’s rooms got a second window and no longer sit in the dark when blocking out the southern sun

So many thanks to each and every one of you!

Is a decentralized exhaust ventilation system without heat recovery sufficient, or should one choose a centralized exhaust ventilation system when building new? What do you have?

For new construction, I would definitely plan for a central controlled residential ventilation system. I spent some time dealing with decentralized ventilation systems because it was unclear whether a central solution was feasible for our renovation, but it presented too many disadvantages for me. Mainly, you read about noise.
