- Would you raise the ground? The house would be 40cm below street level. From the terrace to the garden it would then be 1m. You could only raise the ground for the house. Then the difference from the terrace to the garden would be about 1.6m. So far, I don’t know anyone who lives in a house below street level. Raising the garden would probably not be possible without permits. The affected neighbors certainly would not grant them either. To the right and left of the house towards the neighbors, you can probably only raise up to certain limits. I am a bit overwhelmed with the decision.
Are there already houses on your side of the street that you could use as a reference? Or are you the first to build there with this slope?
I would basically approve of raising the ground if a basement is not an option for you. In which region are you building? In some places, fill gravel is currently available at a low price because the gravel pit operators urgently need space for soil disposal (excavated soil).
Within what limits is it allowed to raise the ground and how far? You can model suitable slopes accordingly from the terrace. As long as you only need an exit to the garden via the terrace, I don’t see any major problems.
