Are non-floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room outdated? What curtains?

Regarding storage space: The sliding door between the living and dining areas is currently only preliminarily planned; if it is omitted (perhaps also due to costs), a chest of drawers or cupboard could be placed between the two window elements facing south. At the entrance to the dining area on the left, we have already mentally planned our existing sideboard. Under the TV there will be a base cabinet and possibly shelves above the sofa. We actually do not have that many things and hope that will be enough storage space for us.

I would actually plan cabinets instead of the buffet. It saves you space and doesn't actually cost more storage. I wouldn't store drink crates there, they get warm.

Be sure to draw your desired furniture to scale. Piano and whatever else you mentioned.

To get to the actual question: I wouldn’t decide based on whether something is modern or not, but on whether I want it that way. You want to live in it, it has to please you. I only like windows with curtains, meaning in our open-plan area all windows have curtains, and there are also some in the bedroom. But that is a matter of taste. We also have a small pantry and I love it. Enough storage space for supplies that I could never fit in the kitchen. Even if drinks get warm in there, that doesn’t matter, a few bottles always go into the fridge. But at that spot I don’t like it so much either, the place would be too representative for me, I would put something else there, a great cabinet or a large fridge.

You decide on the windows and they only need to please you.

I can only recommend sketching out the actual furniture arrangement. Don’t forget the walking paths.

Living room: How important is the door to the left room? If you leave it out, you would at least have a wall without interruption. A TV in front of a window would be completely out of the question for me.

Kitchen: Why is there this indentation at the corner of the house? That half meter would do the kitchen good. Coordinate the sill height of the corner window well with the kitchen planning.

Personally, the kitchen would be too far from the terrace for me, but everyone has different views on that.

The recess in the kitchen results from the fact that the front part of the house facing west is a flat-roof extension, which is set apart from the rest of the building; the basement only exists in width without the extension (a bit complicated to describe). I have uploaded a plan with the existing furniture; I know, not professional. The passage from the living room to the office wouldn't have to be there; it can also be left out. I have now also removed the pantry and simply inserted two cabinets symbolically. If a pantry, then I would nowadays make it without a slanted wall, I think.

I don't understand the indentation. From the kitchen to the dining area on the terrace, it's quite a slalom.
