No, it is not too narrow. Where would that come from? - 242/400 is approximately a ratio of 1.65:1, a "narrow space" only starts at about 3:1.

You live in rooms, not in centimeters. If you really "manage" to make everything "fit" - then it will also "fit" - meaning "Everything has only one possible place and can only be swapped with something of the same size". That creates stagnation - not coziness.

I assumed the passage dimension: replacing a 50/50 split double-leaf flush door with a nominal width of 226 by a sliding door is no gain under a nominal width of 251.
