that's saving money in the wrong place.
Questions like: is a 1.6m passage wide enough and can I put a 4-seater sofa there would then be unnecessary and one saves oneself a lot of headaches, nerves, and valuable time.

...then you can also try a few things, such as turning a straight staircase to enlarge the entrance area and have more space for the wardrobe

I don't think you can generalize that. The architect certainly has his views, but one might have different demands. For one person, 1.2m hallway is enough and they might prefer to use the 40cm elsewhere, but the architect specifies 1.6m – how are you supposed to oppose that without prior consideration?

I don't know your architect, but if I tell him to plan church windows and a bell tower, then he has to do it. He is designing YOUR house and should support you with advice and assistance. He can make recommendations and share experience. However, if you as the client decide differently, he has to do it. Where would we be if the architect doesn't implement the customer's wishes? It would be like ordering a yellow VW Golf at the car dealership and the salesman telling you that he only sells black ones. That guy would have seen me for the last time...

He helped me with our windows, which were initially even narrower or placed too close to the outer wall. But how should he know that I don't like the windows now and that I would prefer larger ones? Of course, they fit in the room, comply with regulations, and so on, but that is purely a subjective aspect. And there are no experience values for that either; one person prefers a living room that is more shielded from view, another only wants glass all around. Then I would have had to stand beforehand exactly in a show house with exactly those windows, which does not exist. Therefore, the architect can perhaps prevent major mistakes, which he did, but subjective decisions still have to be made by the customer. Therefore, I would not rely so much on the architect there.

See? If he had shown you the house in a 3D model, you would certainly have had more input and probably made a different decision. What I will never understand is that people full of enthusiasm still sign contracts in the model home park even though they have no clue about construction, expect the biggest and best-equipped house for the minimal budget, while they spend much more time informing themselves and meticulously checking emission values when buying a new car. Most people go into debt for several decades to build a house and then save money on a 3D model...

I admit that I also had almost no clue when I decided to build a house, but I was very clear about what I want and need. I measured window and door dimensions with friends or in the model home park if in doubt, but I definitely didn't decide based on photos in a forum!

As you correctly write, everything is subjective, so why keep asking here what window dimensions are recommended? Take and buy what you like. If a planner/architect or building supervisor objects, then go to the next one. I'm not building a "second-choice house" for so much money and annoying myself for a lifetime with decisions I didn't make or wasn't allowed to make.

And if none of this helps, then build your house in advance with Lego bricks to see the proportions or download freeware from the internet
