I suspect the princess has noticed that when opening a window with a sill height of 87.5, she knocks the fabric softener bottle off the washing machine.

That must be it, I can't explain otherwise how such a sill height could be bothersome in the utility room.

Sometimes I can’t decide whether I find you funny or mean. I assume you like being both

People often preach here: put yourself in the house, think through the workflows, draw in the furniture, etc. Shiny has now done that and found out that the washing machine doesn’t fit under the window. I congratulate her on this timely insight. With the ‘let-it-go-you-can’t-plan-everything style’ this would only have been noticed when moving in, too late. Surely these planning errors would then be sugar-coated like ‘The first house is built for the enemy’. But: why not just try to do everything right from the start?

Exactly: right - but also in the sense of "right is enough" - you can do better, more correct, the most correct, but then you cross the threshold into therapy-near dimensions. In my mental cinema the OP is a bulimic woman who would sink into the ground from shame if her lipstick smudges once - or at least a hostess who prefers to buy cake rather than face the judgment that she doesn’t bake as perfectly as Aunt Trude. In any case, I constantly want to shout at her "chill out!" and shake her while doing so. Last night I really had to hold myself back from ignoring the thread about the ceiling spots in the entrance hallway. Without years of training from a Westphalian father-in-law I wouldn’t be able to endure that at all.

The current questions - even about things like ceiling spotlights - are not exclusively reserved by Shiny, others have asked them before as well. I admit that at times it became difficult for me to understand here too, but I would just like to leave that behind now. I admire Shiny for staying calm. Because at times I really find your posts here no longer appropriate . No one has to be called a bulimic etc. here.

You said it: it’s YOUR mental movie. The floor plan thread was exhausting, but more for the OP than for anyone else.
Also regarding the planning of the ceiling spots, I want to say: congratulations!
Recently I have been in some new builds: big and expensive! And so terribly misplanned. Sometimes I wanted to run out screaming.
In that respect, I think it’s great that people here think about escape routes, sight lines, etc. These details really create the final WOW effect.
