I am currently planning the windows.
I noticed that the floor-to-ceiling windows/terrace doors are 2.13m high. (See #1) Is that normal? It seems a bit low to me.
The house will be located in a new development area where you stand very close to the neighbors. We don't want it to be too visible. Are these narrow, elongated windows at a higher sill height also suitable as the sole main windows? For example, in the bedroom 2m x 0.76m at a sill height of 1.50m?
I think the window shape is called light bands.
Do you have any tips for windows?
I feel a bit left alone. The architect assigned to us is no good. So we're on our own regarding the floor plan and window planning and aren't making progress.
I would generally make the windows as high as possible. I once visited a show house where I noticed that there was at least 45-50cm of space above each window up to the ceiling. Even though the ceilings were nicely high, it just didn't look good with the windows. Our floor-to-ceiling windows are 2.35m high, so there is still 35cm space to the ceiling, which looks good.
We also have a window like that above the bedroom bed (like in your photo), which also looks nice... but that window would never be enough on its own; we also have a 1.76m wide floor-to-ceiling window in the bedroom. Our bathroom window is also 1.76m wide and about 1.40m high. Everyone has neighbors, but there are many different possibilities for privacy screens, such as double roller blinds, pleated blinds, or curtains. That way, plenty of light still comes into the rooms and no one can look in. I wouldn't use a narrow light band at 1.20m height in the kitchen unless you enjoy working in the dark in the kitchen.
Best regards
