Reed contact alarm system window. How did you solve that?

That's true. I just want to have the flexibility. I probably won’t remove any window permanently, but only in individual cases. I also have to say that I like programming and I don’t imagine it to be too complicated to activate or deactivate the reed switch via the alarm system interface.

Apparently possible, according to my electrician (whether it makes sense is another question).

Relevant for me: Our son wants to sleep with a tilted window in the height of summer. So I see upon activation that his window is tilted, but I still arm it.

If you run a separate line from each contact to the control panel and install a small electronics module for each contact, you can use a switch to simulate that the door or window is closed even though it is open. Of course, this does not work with a loop circuit.

As mentioned before, I implemented this this way in our system. Additionally, three LEDs in different colors were installed for each contact so you can immediately see which door or window is opened far enough to trigger the contact, which contact has been excluded from monitoring, and in the event of an alarm which contact triggered the alarm. This visual information for the alarm remains even after the alarm output time has elapsed and must be manually cleared.

So it is indeed possible to exclude individual parts from monitoring. It is just somewhat more complex.

Thanks for the information. I will also coordinate this with my electrician. However, I also hope that with the KNX control system, you also get "adjustment options" (visualization probably with Loxone).

Hello, with us it is solved in such a way that our alarm system can only be armed if all windows are closed. Of course, we could exclude individual ones, but that is not planned at the moment. The purpose of this option is that when everyone is out of the house in the morning, all windows are monitored. Our garage is also secured. Additionally, we have a 4-legged alarm system!

Since you will have KNX, all possibilities are open to you. So why not two contacts per window?

Otherwise, just one at the bottom...

That is exactly how I plan it too, as only then is the appropriate security provided and due to the ventilation system no window needs to be open anyway. But at night I want to have the flexibility for someone to sleep with the window open if they want to. How have you solved this regarding arming the system at night when all windows are included? Best regards
