but why does the pantry have to have a window? You are probably planning a ventilation system too - right?
That was a big point of discussion. Personally, I wouldn’t need a window because of the ventilation system. But my better half absolutely wants one in there. Also, you need about 60cm more space if you swap the pantry and the tall cabinet wall, which we don’t have.
Oh, as a supplement to the question "pantry window", also why a pantry when you still have a basement?
We simply don’t want to go to the basement for every little thing. Our kitchen is already packed full now and outside the apartment, we have a storage room (awkwardly cut old building) where we actually store what would otherwise go into the pantry (potatoes, onions, containers for recycling, olive oils, kitchen appliances that are not used that often, ...) and I don’t want to go to the basement each time for that, especially since we don’t have wall cabinets and therefore everything would have to be stored in the kitchen units.
Garage opening to the west would also allow for creating a west terrace in the entrance area.
First of all, thanks for the work.
Turning the garage to the west would, of course, be the optimal option for the garage, but in our opinion it’s suboptimal for the front door (I’d first have to walk around the garage or through the workshop area, which is probably not always perfectly tidy) and doesn’t look good from the south view either.
