With a kitchen island, we would have installed a Berbel as well. The concept simply convinced us, even though it is expensive.

On our peninsula, we will get a second sink - designed as a work island and not as a cooking island. It was more important to us to have more space for chopping and preparing, and not a solution to have the cooking area freestanding.

We have that too and are VERY satisfied with it.
That is also what we use most often there.

Stove (with Bora downdraft recirculation) + 2nd sink are arranged for us on a 4.5m long kitchen counter with hanging base cabinets under 2 skylight windows.

Yo!

A second sink on the work island would also be my favorite. For us, it was not feasible due to both size and budget. I consider it the optimum.

We also got a Down-Craft system. Even the most amazing Berbel just doesn't look nice and ruins the kitchen's appearance a little. We decided on the system from Neff. It costs more and there is a certain loss of space inside the cabinet, but since we have an open-plan kitchen integrated into the living area, appearance is very high on the list.

Both systems basically work. Most of the time is spent on preparations and the time at the stove is shorter, nevertheless it is a lot of fun to carry out the actual cooking process with a view into the room. Above all, there are also plenty of "quick" dishes where you mostly stand at the stove, ... pancakes for example ... looking at a wall the whole time or into the room, ... it was an easy decision for us.

Oh yes, the sink is of course also on the island, because preparations are also done there ... In principle, almost everything is done on the peninsula for us, we could have nearly done without the rest of the counter.

We have that too. It's great. Finally, dishes and vegetables no longer compete for the same faucet. Our sink for washing dishes is so big that a baking tray fits completely inside. Except for the Muurikka, everything now fits entirely in the sink.
