I would anyway claim that the stress and pressure you put on yourself is the biggest obstacle and costs the most nerves during the house construction :D

Of course, this applies to all concerns - not just the kitchen...

However, it wouldn't work as well without it and it would be boring anyway :)

Still in the earthworks, but so far an archaeologist who massively delayed the work and threatened to shut everything down. Despite a 99.99% probability of finding nothing, every shovel was searched meticulously. Unplanned additional costs so far €4500. The earthworks company took twice as long as planned - additionally extreme price increases due to expensive diesel.

The most annoying thing for us was the connections. Gas, water, and telephone were connected on the property..... electricity was not. This only became apparent when the earthworks contractor couldn’t find a cable. The network provider hadn’t connected it because they didn’t want to wait 20 years for the development costs.

So escalation attempts at the network provider. Two weeks later, the foundation slab arrived. We had to borrow electricity from the neighbor for 2 days. On the 3rd day, surprisingly a second construction team showed up to lay the power cable. The best part was, the team had different plans about where the power cable should enter the property. I had been sent different plans. Now the power cable runs diagonally across the garden instead of next to the water line under the driveway.

Construction water was installed on Friday. The foundation slabs were supposed to arrive on Monday. During an inspection, I noticed on Friday midday that the construction water tap was broken. Of course, the municipal utilities were already closed for the weekend. Fortunately, someone came first thing Monday morning to replace the water tap.

And don’t even get me started on Telekom. >1 year earlier we submitted the application via the builder portal. With a lot of persuasion, we got an "emergency appointment" for a technician to connect the TAE socket on move-in day. If you don’t call every few weeks to check on the status of the application, nothing seems to happen.

The construction phase itself went smoothly. Minor defects were always fixed immediately by the general contractor. The waiting time between signing the contract, sample selection, building permit, and start of construction is a bit annoying but okay. It also went quite quickly for us. The time between signing and moving in was 17 months.

I can only confirm. Application submitted to Telekom in April 2020, they then came in March 2021 to connect the cable... that definitely cost me the most nerves, especially since we moved in November 2020 and I was working from home.

Vodafone has been very good and quick. The partner companies for the cable into the house and the handover point in the house were also very nice and easygoing. I already have a 1000 cable line in my construction site, and the Vodafone Wi-Fi router sends throughout the whole house (probably only 2.4, but whatever). In my temporary office (later bedroom) that is really on the exactly opposite side of the house on a different floor, I still get 250 Mbit via Wi-Fi. It will surely be different when my wife and child are constantly streaming and the TV in the living room streams by itself, but then I have LAN in my office. Actually, I had gotten two Ubiquiti In Wall APs, but now I'm thinking about saving that. I even had Wi-Fi at the construction site toilet. Let it continue like this.

I am sorry for you and your family, and threats are of course absolutely inappropriate. May I ask out of interest whether you are building in a particularly interesting region?

It was similar for us. And since we bought the property as developed, we dug ourselves to look for the electricity because the electricity provider had no corresponding connection information in their records and a first employee on site found nothing. We were also successful; we found a yellow plastic tape boldly labeled "Caution High Voltage Cable" and various cables. We were really proud, took photos with us in hiking boots, rugged clothing, and our shovels at the pit (like the gold prospectors in the Wild West :) ), and coincidentally the weather was really bad with storm and light hail. The photos with the nicely draped tape "Caution High Voltage Cable" were sent to the provider and friends/acquaintances/relatives/site manager etc. :) Then another employee from the provider company came and seriously looked for it, also digging themselves, using sensors, electronic devices etc., and found nothing. The cables we found are telecommunications cables. About the important piece of evidence for us, the yellow plastic tape "Caution High Voltage Cable," he only replied curtly, "they take whatever they have on the construction site." :)

So once again, we jumped like tigers but landed like doormats. :)

Anyway, it was interesting to watch how the electricity was later "shot through" from the opposite sidewalk to our property. If you stood in the right spot on the ground, you could feel the vibrations and knew where the "shooting device" was currently located.

Dear Hampshire, YPG, and Pagoni2020, please, please come back.
