My last understanding was that you only receive Baukindergeld if you do not yet own a property. In other words, sell the apartment before applying and that's it. Without prior sale, no Baukindergeld, neither for the apartment (if bought before 2018, definitely not, and the application deadline has also passed, I believe it was 11 or 12/19) nor for the house.

And for the new house, time could be tight. This year the building permit or the purchase contract must be available.



How far along are the plans?

Hello everyone,

today the development of the property is supposed to start. So applying for a building permit is out of the question for now. Besides, I can only sell the apartment next year...

Long story short... I will probably apply for the Baukindergeld for the apartment, even if I will certainly miss out on 10,000 EUR because of it.

No, you are not missing out on 10,000 euros, you are getting 2,400 euros as a gift through the Baukindergeld.

it is not a gift, as the payment is tied to a service or condition.

However, I know what you mean, and I probably shouldn't be so ungrateful, and of course you are right, I will receive the 2.5 TEUR

I would also apply for the apartment as soon as possible. But again: if you want to apply for the house - by then at the latest you will have exceeded the income limits.
