Because no one can guarantee that they will actually have children then.

You can go a step further: Why are those families without child(ren) forgotten, who might also like to have children but for various reasons (so far) cannot have any, and thus have to try through other means, which may take years? I know numerous married couples in my circle of acquaintances who would like to build first and then have one or more children 2-3 years later. And they simply miss out on the support, which I think is unfair.

1. If I had no children, I wouldn't need funding for a house. Children cost money, a lot of money, which hardly any funding can cover. 2. Building a house with, maybe I'll have a child, maybe not, is already a risky plan just because of the room layout. 3. And families are simply more supported because in theory they bring more to the country. Because without offspring, there will be no workers in 50 years. And Germany has to create an incentive so that you don't have to give up all your dreams to start a family. Just an opinion, not an untouchable truth...

Childless people have a hard time building anyway, as many building plots are only available for families. On the other hand, as DINKs you have two full-time salaries and fewer costs. And as Silke says, only with existing children can it be reasonably and unbureaucratically ensured that the funding does not go to DINKs who need it less. I also see this somewhat critically, as I consider house first, then children to be the more sensible distribution when it comes to any kind of personal contributions.

That's exactly what it's about for me too. We definitely want children. But we just want to live in our own four walls beforehand and have worked a bit more. I find it unfortunate that these people then end up COMPLETELY empty-handed with the subsidies. I could understand if the subsidy programs were reduced or capped, but I just find it unfortunate that there is nothing at all.

Just seen: For families with three children, the credit limit is even increased by €35,000 :)
