Bathroom next to bedroom, open-plan kitchen and living room separated, daylight bathroom and even a small hallway so you’re not standing directly in the living room. Great design! The internal kitchen/workshop for my wife would of course be a drawback. We need to discuss this calmly. The only negative point is the utility room in the sightline from the entrance. It would be nice if, when you come in, you have a direct view outside. What do you think @dertill?
Did I say it would be low effort? If yes, no no no, that’s not what I meant, we know it will be a lot of work. The stable was already "renovated" 15 years ago and has been used since then as an extensively used horse stable. The floor is already new with a 10 cm concrete slab. For the ceilings, of course, a structural engineer has to check if that’s okay. Sure, it won’t be cheap, but it’s not the first house I’m working on and the other parties involved know what they are getting into."Low renovation effort" is something I have never encountered when converting a stable into living space. It starts with soil excavation that often goes below the foundation edge and requires securing measures, all the way to desalination of the walls
Mother-in-law would like to move into something smaller, she doesn’t want more than 80m2. I was unhappy with my first design for the reasons you mentioned, too. Hence the discussion here.I don’t know how undemanding the mother-in-law is and what size of apartment she’s moving from, but I would avoid the kitchen/guest WC combo in that spot and plan a properly laid-out apartment for the mother-in-law and her dog
