We also have a bungalow. You can probably still find the floor plan here. What is incredibly important in a bungalow is the hallway. You don't run through the hallway as often in any other type of house as you do in a bungalow. Therefore, give it some space and attention. Ideally, it is somewhat rounded and the rooms branch off in a star shape. One side can be for the living area and the other for the public area. Say goodbye to creating a closed-off living area. That is simply not possible in a compact bungalow without creating dark, narrow corridors. Then also forget about those intermediate doors in the hallways. They will always be open anyway because of the light.
Basically, the bungalow is a house that invites sociability and a certain intimacy. If the bedroom door is open, you can see inside from the front door. That's just how it is and you have to like it. When we have guests, they get an immediate idea of our chaos at first glance. With 2 children and cats, the doors are almost always wide open. Everyone can look into our wardrobe :D It probably won’t be as extreme for you, but you should be aware of it.
Otherwise: give yourselves a bit of space in the open-plan area (living room, dining room, kitchen). You will immediately miss it if you want to add a nice new cabinet someday.
