LED panels also look good! It looks like they are only 2-3 cm "thick" and would then be mounted like a normal ceiling light? We want to achieve a modern look through the spots and, of course, make it sufficiently bright through the spots.

There are nice lamps as well, but I don't like anything that can collect dust.

It should be dimmable in the living/dining area as well as in the bathroom / above the bathtub. In the kitchen or hallway, it should always be "floodlight".

I have UP panels that sit in [Betondeckendosen] – but they are also available as surface-mounted.

In the main bathroom, I couldn't decide and installed about 15 spots there – my wife almost fainted .

I did the electrical work myself, so it just cost NYM cables plus the spots. A GU10 frame cost 4.50 euros and a bulb (dimmable) cost 10 euros.

The panels cost around 30 euros each and the wall lamps around 50 euros each.

Is very interesting. Why are the concrete ceiling boxes still needed? Couldn’t you have just poured the ceiling completely and then set the panel into the plaster?

I am also considering whether to reduce from 4 rows x 4 spots to 3 rows x 4 spots. The distance between the spots would then still be 1.30m within the row and 1.25m between the rows instead of just 1.00m. Then it might not seem so "overwhelming".

I personally don't think much of built-in ceiling spots. I agree with . They may look good, but they are very inflexible. Once installed, they’re there for good. And as you can clearly see here, the planning is very complex. To me, it's somehow a modern trend; everyone wants to have it, but no one really knows why, just like when kitchen islands first became popular.

Personally, I do know why.

+ modern look
+ don’t need to be cleaned like hanging lamps
+ with even arrangement, nice lighting and independence from the arrangement of the furniture
- hard to plan
- costly

If I were to hang "normal" LED lamps on the ceiling now, I would also have to plan where the ceiling outlets go, and I’m not quite sure where to put them. The classic: above the dining table and above the coffee table. But if you rearrange the furniture, you have a problem, right?

However, I could imagine foregoing spots in favor of the LED panels mentioned by , as they also look good—so flat and sitting directly under the ceiling. The only question is how many panels and how to arrange them.

As I have already written in other topics, apart from the dining table, study, and the children's rooms, we have exclusively installed ceiling spots. I would do it exactly the same way again.

Maybe you take a look at the previous discussions on the topic of ceiling spots. There you might find one or two more suggestions for your planning and further useful tips.
