Are you aware that a fire-resistant steel door costs 230 euros? With frame. With handles.

And with official installation almost double that.. And if you don’t want “just“ a T30 door, at 1.3 insulation or even better, you’re already at 500-600 euros.. Just the door

and if you also need RC2 + multi-point locking with external control, you’re quickly in the thousand-euro range..

That’s just how it is unfortunately..

Still insanely expensive for an old connecting door from the garage to the house.

Honestly, I find it even more extreme with front doors..

People are sometimes willing to spend €5000 there, even though probably no one will break in anyway..
And for the sake of appearance, a door for €1000 would also do....

Yvonne asks if he still needs help? I find this question quite justified. We are talking about a door between a locked garage and the house, right? We are talking about fire-resistant? Yes? We are talking about 3500 euros, right? Even if my door with installation costs 400 euros, it does what it is supposed to do at that spot. And he would be helped with 2900 euros, which he could use to spend a nice week in Crete with his loved one or whoever, and not in the cheapest dive. Karsten

The door must not only be fire-retardant – which would be cheaper, says the architect – but it must also be smoke-retardant.

Comparing a door costing 400 euros with an RC2 secured door including alarm functions does not help me. Even if such a door were permissible, it would not be effective, since this critical point requires a high level of security for our subjective sense of safety.

Of course, one can do without the RC2 status and instead secure the garage door and gates with RC 2, 3, 4, or whatever else, but I strongly doubt that this is more economical. I will discuss this again with my wife on Sunday. However, I assume that we will forgo the door given the costs. Even a door without any extras like alarm system integration etc. (except RC 2) is charged by the provider at over € 2,000. To be honest, I also do not feel comfortable with two accesses, each with separate alarm system controls. I can't really say why, but that's how it is.

I therefore assume that the matter with the door is settled.
