Which post did you overlook? - I see no reason for a doomsday mood. My plea was to postpone the move until one can emotionally enter their house feeling relaxed again, and afterwards to work through the planning errors or priority mistakes and after the dress rehearsal proceed with the "actual" dream house. This is not about a visual flaw, but currently about the decision "panic scream or stomach ulcer."

Is that enough or do I now have to quote a dozen posts from you?

The whole thing is getting more and more insane. Now the general contractor is putting pressure on me - practically demanding every day that I approve the changes to the exterior masonry so that he can mill into the masonry.

The expert says he will not approve that, he can't even do that, because it affects the structural stability of the masonry and only the brick manufacturer can approve it, since it is a special construction method. So it goes back and forth.

Then they want me to approve the interior and exterior plaster. I basically wrote, "Good man, two experts have now criticized that the base insulation is not okay. You have not changed anything about it. Nothing is clarified. Why on earth should I now approve the exterior plaster?"

Above all, I wonder what I am supposed to approve plastering work as a client in a general contractor contract. Contractually speaking, I am not in control of what happens on the construction site and have already stated several times that I will not interfere with the construction processes.

So that he has your signature and can no longer make any corrections at his expense. You have accepted it. Let him put on pressure. You have two ears.

Ui, that must cost you quite a lot of nerves! But it's always a thing with the experts; they give you a good feeling, but often they just criticize things that don't cause problems and are always done that way by the construction companies. Theory and practice...

Also interesting that milling is supposed to affect the statics. On a construction site, it's common practice to hack something out somewhere, etc. And I don't understand why the brick manufacturer would now be the right contact person. For me, if anything, it would be the structural engineer!

So I had two experts here now, both criticized the base waterproofing. Both say there is a reason why there is a DIN for it and that the execution does not comply with the recognized rules of technology. The general contractor says he builds 90% of houses that way but knows that it is against the regulations. Well, then it’s stupid to contractually agree that work is to be done according to the standards and recognized rules of technology and that deviations from them are only allowed in agreement with the client.

The expert writes.

"The masonry corrections must be confirmed by the manufacturer, as it is a special construction method. I cannot approve this, since the structure of the bricks is altered, even if it is only a small area. This will also be stated in my report."

Tomorrow I will post the complete report here.
