I don't believe that - unless they have an appropriate army of their own "screed-Achmeds"

But will they still like each other when they keep stepping on each other’s toes through the work?

There are hardly more ways to catch up than these two ("own additional manpower of construction helpers" and "those who would otherwise work sequentially coming at the same time"). Otherwise, unfortunately, the only thing I can think of is switching to "fast-drying" materials. Overtime is probably already exhausted given the current order situation.

Dear no not necessarily. There have definitely been sparks flying. It went better in some cases where the trades overlapped. Especially the drywall installer knew the quirks of the electricians and the plumbers.

Well, our neighbors started construction exactly one year ago. They built with a locally based general contractor; the property was ready for occupancy by mid-October, and they moved in during the first week of November at their own request. The construction is solid as a rock, zero shoddy work, it just went smoothly. So it’s possible, no reason to panic.
For us, it will (probably) start soon as well, building with an architect, not a general contractor. However, I’m assuming a 9-month construction period here. There is indeed a small difference between having everything done by one source or managing individual trades separately. Christmas this year in our own four walls is probably not happening for us, but I wouldn’t rule it out for you yet.

You are probably the only one who believes that; not to advise him, not to help him.

Ok, maybe not massive pressure. But at least any additional costs on my side are covered. Therefore, I will not create artificial pressure and risk shoddy work. It will be finished when it is finished. I remain relaxed about that.

Now everything is really coming together. The neighbor complains that the property boundary is not being respected and his bushes have been destroyed. In fact, he sent photos showing gravel compressed on his property.

He also complained that the stone cutting machine is apparently broken and now they are working with an angle grinder, which creates a lot of dust. But he probably can’t do anything about that, or can he?
