I do not want to deny that a freelance architect is also a good solution, maybe even the better one. And we have considered that as well. But for us, it simply didn’t fit and it didn’t come about. It’s no use now to keep dealing with this question, which no longer benefits anyone, every time there is a minor disagreement in the construction process....

I agree with you. But for the next house, the insight lead time is not entirely unimportant.

This often no longer means more than that it is an individual design - as opposed to the catalog design, but not necessarily unusual in the details. The other houses will not be such collections of special requests (bay window plus laundry balcony plus partial basement guest room plus ideal home theater viewing distance plus mini excavator extractor).

At the beginning, you simply don't have on your radar what you need to pay attention to, how everything is interconnected, and and and.......

You speak of no disagreements?

When I read through this thread and see everything that went wrong, I don’t see small disagreements but a multitude of glaring mistakes, despite expert supervision, etc...

And therefore I really doubt the quality of your general contractor.

And again completely wrong with the prioritization. I am talking about simple things. Is the system sufficiently designed; a look at the data sheet. What do I get, wall, ceiling, or floor outlets and where do they go? Such things are crucial for future furnishing and maintenance. Apart from the fact that floor outlets would never, ever be allowed in my house.
