So if it is done correctly, wood is certainly a great thing. If you inquire, I would definitely mention it and ask how they attach the covering.

In terms of price, the concrete staircase covered with wood (we obtained 6 quotes) would have cost us between €4000 and €6800.
Each including installation and with risers and baseboards!

Without risers, it would have been about €1000-1500 cheaper.

We have now decided on natural stone.

Now I have to ask some details again. Does the price refer to one staircase or to staircases KG/EG and EG/OG?

What was the price for tiles (with which material price)? Or did you not request anything as an alternative?

In our cost calculation, a total budget of €4,000 is currently included for two flights of stairs. Our budget still has about €40,000 leeway, but I don't want to spend it all too quickly. Who knows what else will come.

For us, the stair covering is not installed by the general contractor. The general contractor only builds the staircase. According to the contract, a concrete staircase. If we were to have an alternative wooden staircase executed, what influence would that usually have on the price? I don't know which of the two types of stairs is generally cheaper.

Last but not least, the question would be, regardless of the price, what can be recommended more. Wooden treads on a wooden staircase or leave the concrete staircase and apply the desired wooden covering?

The price was only for one staircase - from the ground floor to the upper floor. However, our concrete staircase is a two-quarter turn staircase. Accordingly, the additional cost was probably due to that compared to a straight staircase. But I believe that with two straight staircases you would already be in the price range we had to pay for a turned staircase.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with that. We didn't even consider tiles. For us, it somehow had the character of a "basement entrance" with the joints, etc. Now with natural stone, the stair covering including risers + baseboards costs us about €4000 as well.

The decisive factors for us were, on the one hand, the "bad" experience of two friends with creaking wooden flooring and a tip from acquaintances recommending natural stone due to its durability compared to wood.

But purely visually, we liked wood a bit better.

Understood. You have seen my ground floor tile linked above. Something like that also as stair covering? I don't know.

Maybe we would only equip the stairs to the upper floor that nicely and make the stairs to the basement a bit simpler.

So I quite like the tile you posted. I can definitely imagine it on the stairs. But that is usually a matter of personal taste. Wood/natural stone, however, seems a bit more "premium" in my opinion.

For straight stairs, there might possibly be tiles that cover the entire step. Unfortunately, this is not possible with winding stairs; multiple tiles have to be used, resulting in joints. It is important to clarify the build-up height with all variants. It is better to take less and then have the stair builder compensate than to no longer be able to switch from tile to wood because the tile only adds 1.5 cm, but the wood three.
