That's right, you're correct. That's probably why they changed the terms guest room and hobby room to basement room, even though there was a window.

Wasn't something like that actually not required before? In my parents' house from the 80s, there is a guest room in the basement with a tiny shaft with a cover grid and windows, where you could never, ever get out.

We're now considering what to do.

Just because something is used as a guest room does not necessarily mean that the use was indicated/approved as such in the building application.

However, I remember that initially the guest room and hobby room were declared down there. After the preparation of the building application, these terms suddenly disappeared. I was also told something regarding escape routes.

I was referring to your parental home.

As for your building application: keep asking. Until everything is understood.

By now, various craftsmen might think I’m joking because of countless questions. But I don’t care. Better to ask one time too many than to get a result later that I would have preferred to be different. With you, on the other hand, I often get a bit of the impression that you don’t consistently follow through with your questions (e.g., now with the room designation) and that you sometimes rely more on others than on yourself. At least with some window discussion, I eventually just thought that you do everything 11ant tells you to do — even though you yourself thought something else was better.

I already asked about the room designation. She said you are no longer allowed to write it like that but how I use it is my business.

Especially with the windows, 11ant actually suggested a different variant than the one that will now be used. Otherwise, very creative and further-reaching results came from him. That’s fine.

Well, hopefully at most in one window discussion

That would be terrible if someone were to build "my" house here. But at least in several places here we remained of different opinions: there would be no garage passage door for me, no double-wide single gate either, and certainly no canopy "beam" drawn around it.

You will find my taste as a builder most similar in this forum in the house of —although I didn’t add much input there, it was already very far developed when I appeared here.
