I'm curious about that too. Holes in the vapor barrier behind the shower simply covered with tape—I have images of mold in my mind. By the way, our expert came by specifically before the vapor barrier was removed. He checked the workmanship and the materials.

We do have a passive house—hence the two measurements—but independent of that, both the architect and the blower door technician explained that the interior finishing barely seals and you can't do much about it afterward. If the window isn't airtight, a bit of drywall with paint or wallpaper won't fix it. The result is under 1.5, which means your general contractor is out.

Is the shower on an exterior wall? The sealing must be the thermal envelope, right?! Do you have water pipes etc. that penetrate it? During the shell construction, before the screed and interior finishing, we had a value of 0.52 and we don’t have a passive house or anything like that. The site manager was pleased.

What does the Blower Door Test have to do with the ventilation pipes of the controlled residential ventilation? At our place, the pipes leading outside were sealed with inflatable balls like those, otherwise the controlled residential ventilation has no connection to the outside. We had a value of 0.8, which according to the inspector is completely fine for an energy-saving ordinance house.

Best regards

There he is again .... the common thread in your construction .... So the guy from the Blower Door Test says it’s not that bad, well hats off, for a new build - even just Energy Saving Ordinance - I don’t think those are good values. Here and also in the nearby area the tests are always done before the interior work - so you can still get to it if there really is something. And when I then hear about huge holes and they patch everything up with tape, honestly that gives a very bad feeling. Especially in combination with all the other incidents that have happened. I really keep my fingers crossed that it goes well. For example, we only had the construction door, a board in front of the other front door and no screed and already had a value of 0.43 - meaning the house was already sealed before the interior work.

It really gives you goosebumps when you read what is being "provisionally" taped up here with tape, etc. Or quickly patched up to achieve a temporarily better value, which is far from good.

Will all of this hold forever? (Risk of mold, etc.) Phew.

At some point, this will end up on "Die Bauretter" or "Baupfusch - Familien in Not"

I have sent the photos to the expert. He told me that it looks anything but professional and that he will write something about it. He also says that the statement of the site manager is nonsense, that the painter is supposed to seal the area between the windowsill and the window. That is clearly a service of the [GU].
