True. We'll leave that out.

I will take a look at a swing gate as an alternative.

During planning discussions, I was advised to definitely move the couch to the wall next to the office. We had placed it as it is now for an ideal TV and speaker setup.

However, there are also great solutions for TV placement in the center of the room without losing the open character of the entire space. Can anyone imagine that for this room? I am skeptical because, in addition to the TV, surround speakers must be provided, which must be placed on the sides but especially behind the couch, which excludes placing the couch directly against the wall. And the side front speakers would just stand out like a line in the landscape, and from the dining area, you would be looking at the backs of the speakers with their cabling.

I would like to have your worries.

I would place one side of the couch against the office wall and the other in front of the window. And leave the TV as it is drawn in the set plan. That way you also have the option to place an armchair between the couch and the dining room.

Who is advising you that? Is an interior designer present during your conversations?

The kitchen planner. He also advises on interior design and had seen it on the floor plan and said we probably wouldn’t just leave it like that.

*ahem* Maybe you should let 11ant do the interior design [emoji6]

No, seriously: I am one of those who do not demonize a chic sofa in front of the big window. All this "why have a patio door if it's going to be blocked anyway" only applies to minimal living rooms with sparse window surfaces. Here it shows generosity, and if the sofa isn’t dark red, it fits perfectly in front of the garden area and terrace.

You also have to trust yourself sometimes [emoji4]
