The joint alignment from wall to floor is not symmetrical, what to do?

Do you think so? We’re renovating for the first time and are really at a loss. We just imagined it differently and don’t understand why he tiled it like that. Unfortunately, it wasn’t discussed with us beforehand, he could have just called once to clarify. We don’t have an architect. I’m surprised that none of you think it’s that bad... Maybe we’re getting too worked up?

We are only concerned about the wall tiles at the shower. They could simply have been cut so that the joints align with those on the floor. We could also have discussed making the wall a bit shorter so that the finish would be with a full tile. They should simply have talked to us beforehand. I’m also annoyed with myself for not having called and asked how exactly they would arrange the tiles. But I assumed that such things would be discussed with the builders and not just tiled without further ado.

To sum it up: You did not provide any specifications regarding this. The tiler apparently did his work to the best of his knowledge and belief. One client wants a whole tile at the beginning, the next at the end of the wall. I think if you want it different now, you have to pay for the extra effort. This is exactly why I get heavily involved in the matter at the start of each trade and also discuss purely aesthetic aspects. You probably haven’t had any experience with this yet. Take it sportingly and learn from mistakes. I think you can discuss with the tiler to knock out the three rows yourself and he will redo it once. That should be manageable with 200-300€.

I had imagined my third-pattern band a bit differently than just back and forth, with two joints always interrupted by just one tile. That's also the difference between a good tiler and one who just lays the tiles according to instructions. I can understand your frustration, because as a builder you can't think of everything. But knocking everything off and doing it again would be too expensive for me.

But there was nothing to discuss for them: many roads lead to Rome – in this case either taking over the grout line from floor to wall or from wall to floor or the view of the wall, starting in the corner with a full tile. I personally can’t make anything of the photos: you kind of have the whole room, maybe judging the view from the door or elsewhere. What stood out to me more now is that the two tiles in the shower were not kept the same width. Nevertheless, I would not consider it wrong based on the photos, as there is certainly a reason. What it is, I do not see. Once the tiles are grouted, you only see “surface” and no joint, I think. The color is almost matched anyway.

Thank you all first of all for your opinions!

I have attached a few more photos of the overall picture. Maybe that helps
