It would definitely be too cold for me (I'm sensitive that way ). Besides, I go up and down very often during the day, so I much prefer warm wood. Our current staircase is also made of wood, and you can go up and down it completely silently, unless you jump down it.

Best regards
Sabine

So far, I haven't seen a wooden staircase that doesn't make noise when children run up and down it. With concrete stairs, that's more the norm. Besides, a wooden staircase also gets louder over time.

So ideally it would be a concrete staircase with a wooden covering....we initially considered that as well but then decided on a closed wooden staircase.

Correct, but for perception the heat transfer is decisive. A 21°C warm stone feels colder than a 21°C warm wood.

That's how it is with us and I would describe the stairs as very quiet.

When I think of a granite staircase, I immediately think of an apartment building, it’s really not my thing, both the look and the coldness. I find a concrete staircase with wooden covering nicer, or a completely wooden staircase.

The sight of the polished and shiny stone evokes an inner coolness compared to the sight of "dull" wood. That’s just how it is.

The same applies to the color schemes black/white or brown/beige. The latter looks warmer.
