On one side is the crib, on the other the desk, and suddenly you have the walls full ;) But yes, of course you can also put something underneath. However, then it doesn't get quite as close to the window anymore

I would tend to prefer the safer option here... In my eyes: If you want floor-to-ceiling windows, then really "floor-to-ceiling" and with a "French balcony"... if not, then with a normal parapet height... I cannot see any advantages in this "compromise"?

Unfortunately, I still have no feedback on the minimally required parapet height so that a French balcony at a "normal height" is sufficient; hopefully, it will come early next week.

Thank you very much for the pictures and further opinions. Completely floor-to-ceiling would also be our preference, but unfortunately that doesn't work because of the statics. Currently, we have a slight tendency towards "as low as possible," i.e., parapet height 25 raw construction, about 10 above finished floor level.

We currently have a maisonette apartment on the 1st and 2nd floors with floor-to-ceiling windows in some rooms and love it. It’s not just about more light coming in, but especially about the "looking position." With floor-to-ceiling windows, our 3-year-old son can look outside on his own, which he loves. For example, if the lawn is being mowed in the neighbor’s garden, he finds it very exciting to stand or sit in front of the window and watch. We also find it very nice when sitting on the couch, at the dining table, or at the desk to just be able to look outside. With normal windows, none of that would work. Child looking out? Definitely not, and as a "seated adult," you might see the sky, the clouds, the horizon, but not the life in the garden.

I can relate to that; we also have floor-to-ceiling windows. I love them and would not fundamentally question them. But only in the rooms where you actually look outside. The couch and dining table are usually on the ground floor in a single-family house.
The child likes looking outside. Yes, but for how much longer? In 1 or 2 years, that will probably no longer be exciting.

Reminds me of our eldest, who at five, two years! after our move, noticed that he can see the church opposite!!!! from his child's bedroom window.

You are right... we also thought about it for a very long time. In our submission plan, there was still a normal parapet height in the upper floor. We had also been thinking about it for a long time back then. When we needed a tectural plan anyway, we switched to floor-to-ceiling windows. So I can completely understand the points because that was also a topic for us for a long time.

In the bedroom, we definitely wanted floor-to-ceiling windows. Lying in bed in the morning and looking outside, we had already gotten too used to it, it’s simply great. Then we liked the exterior facade better with uniform windows. Since we were rather indifferent about the children's rooms, that was the small detail. Overall, it also looks somewhat more modern from our point of view, both inside and outside.
