By the way, this morning we found the second dead woodpecker on the terrace.. within 2 days!! I can only imagine that they are crashing into the terrace windows (our terrace is covered). I just wonder.. twice the same bird species! Horrible.. I have to do something.. still thinking about it..

My honeysuckle is so full of lice that I don’t know if it will even blossom this year... It is very exposed on an archway, full sun, windy. It stayed green for a long time, but not after the frost. Ok, it was only planted late last summer, maybe it just needs the usual 2-3 years to settle in and feel comfortable...

Off topic: Is there a reason why you were able to do without the drainage layer and splash protection around the house, or is this only the case in this photo, since the terrace is "apparently" being laid here? Thanks. :)

In many of their exterior wall photos you can see the splash protection…. For terraces, it is omitted and - note - the huge canopy: you don’t put on a rain jacket inside the house when it starts to rain. ;)

Do you all also have problems with lice? All the purple coneflowers still don't have a single bud, and the purple oregano neither. Instead, there are totally stunted leaves at the sprouting, and when you pull the leaves apart a bit, you see everything full of lice. One serviceberry already has powdery mildew again. And our Japanese maple (almost 3 meters tall now) is currently losing a thick branch to some kind of fungus. Hopefully not wilt. On the other hand, there is a columnar amber tree that was planted last year, which has already grown 15 cm shoots, and an ironwood tree that is getting so great that one would almost want another one... The chamomile Hollandaise is just about to bloom, it has so many buds, and the star umbels are also amazing this year! Does anyone of you actually use an electric weed killer? Actually, I am more the type "pulling is totally meditative," but in some spots (where I converted lawn into beds), I don't really make progress with pulling, and otherwise the lawn takes everything back. So I am seriously thinking about getting such a killer...
