1. We really don't like the gabion wall.
2. This also applies to the shrubs.
3. Behind the shrubs is my parents' terrace, about 1.5m elevated. We're basically sitting on a silver platter and want to create some privacy there.

The excavator driver only had time today, so I couldn't do much over the weekend.

He came early this morning, and due to lack of time we did it together right away; without the excavator, filling the trench would probably have been quite a challenge.

I'm glad that's done now. :)

I am really surprised that Thuja is being criticized so much here in the forum, but it feels like every second person has planted bamboo.. where is the added value for our nature here?

Why? You are right. Bamboo is as ecological as Thuja and as golf turf. I hadn’t even noticed that so much bamboo is being planted.
