Thanks. Especially since I’m only thinking of a small round bed (diameter maybe 1m), possibly sheltered from the wind so the seeds aren’t spread further. Maybe I’ll still find a compromise.

When dandelions bloom over a larger area, they are beautiful to look at; afterwards, they turn into a puffball, which at least gives me a lot of joy, also because of its transparency and lightness, and otherwise it is green, simply green like most plants. I am convinced that if it were rarer and had to be bought at a florist, it would be highly appreciated because of its distinctiveness. I think when you use dandelion as table decoration for a barbecue party, you don’t need much else, that’s how expressive it is.

Not just for decoration. At my sister’s place, it grows through the patio stones and is regularly used further in the salad during summer BBQ parties (or otherwise).

My guinea pig used to love dandelions above all else.

Have you ever picked one? They have a pretty nasty sap that sticks to your hands and is hard to get off. From things too, by the way. And the blossoms wilt very quickly when picked.

Yes, I have picked many. Behind our last house there was an approximately 350 sqm meadow that looked breathtakingly beautiful during dandelion bloom times ... in my opinion, of course, a matter of taste. But I have already understood that I should probably rather give up on my wish if I don’t find a neighbor-friendly solution.

You start an annual dandelion-blowing competition for children.

Problems with neighbors because of dandelions would be pretty ridiculous - but of course I don't know the degree of "righteous narrow-mindedness" in your neighborhood and the "petty potential for unrest" that could result from it. There have even been disputes over a snowball bush. So if there really could be trouble, it is worth considering not planting dandelions, because I have just as little desire for long-lasting simmering conflicts as for unnecessary contact with such people.
