Are there actually any longer-term experiences with bamboo in the garden? There seem to be quite spreading varieties that colonize the surroundings with their runners in a short time.

Do you plant it in root barriers? Or are there less aggressive varieties?

Don't understand what is supposed to be unecological about bamboo. It's like reed, only on dry land. Birds can also nest in it...

Fargesia varieties remain clumping. However, they also get thicker in diameter. Bamboo dries out quickly and loses its leaves if it does not get enough water :(

It is important that something is planted in the first place. Anything is better than a stone desert.

That's how I see it too. The calculation is quite simple: bamboo is better than nothing. And that was the alternative. I need a privacy screen 3 to 4 meters high, but I don't want to have to wait 10 years until it grows properly. On top of that, it should be evergreen.

What kind of bamboo that was for us I unfortunately cannot say anymore. However, the arrangement in the picture you have leaves many questions unanswered.
