Isn't it way too close to the house?

Haven't you planted the serviceberry too close to the house? What kind of bamboo do you have?

Best regards

The serviceberry was planted by the landscape gardener, so I simply assume that it is fine as it is. It was my choice for this bed as a replacement for the plum and received the unconditional approval of the landscape gardener, who found the location ideal.

The bamboo is certainly some kind of Fargesia because it forms clumps. It has black stalks; as far as I know, there is a special variety like that. Honestly: we got it cheaply from the landscape gardener who wanted to get rid of it, and my husband definitely wanted to have a bamboo. Win-win situation. Since we planted it in this bed, we didn't really care what variety it was. It can grow as tall as it wants. Or it just stays like that. Doesn't matter, everything fits.

With the serviceberry, you can expect about 4m in diameter, we also have some in the garden, but they grow quite slowly. The Fargesia is maybe the Nitida "Black pearl," has purple or black stems. It needs partial shade to shade, like almost all Fargesias, otherwise the stems curl up like needles. The bamboo needs water all year round, even in winter, otherwise very easy to care for.

Our serviceberry has already grown a lot after the first year. Great plants! Now it's full of fruit, let's see how many we can save from the blackbirds. It looks great in front of the wall, even though I would also be afraid that it's too close!

We have partial shade there. Shade in the morning and evening, sun in the afternoon. In winter hardly any sun, which is good for a bamboo.

Well, if there is a house on one side, the serviceberry will probably grow slower in that direction - on the other side it has free rein. The landscape gardener said he would come by for a pruning in 2-3 years, before that it is not necessary. Only shoots on the trunk should be removed.
