That sounds dreamy

Self-sufficiency is a lot of work. Would not be for me.

All that on 650m²?
You really make one feel guilty. I'm frustrated.
Are there at least pictures?

I also hope for hornets someday... so they can drive away the wasps for me

Yes, it sounds like a lot, doesn’t it? But it’s really not. We do have quite a bit of lawn area. The beds aren’t huge. I even forgot to mention a small pear tree and 3 clematis (including 2 Montana rubens, which grow along the fence), I just noticed^^. I’m currently training one of the clematis onto the pear tree. Let’s see if that works. You have to keep in mind that we took over a finished garden. We only renovated from the inside, so the outdoor area wasn’t damaged. We are many years ahead compared to people who mostly have to start everything new after building a house. We have changed and replanted a lot (and these plants are, of course, still quite small), but overall much was already there. For example, the lilac hedge is about 5-7m high and the ivy growing up the maple is already blooming. And ivy only blooms after 15-20 years. Its bloom is also the only reason it’s allowed to stay, even though I’m allergic to it – for the bees, because it’s one of the very last bee pastures of the year. I can take pictures for you gradually. There isn’t much to see at the moment. The fruit tree blossoms are almost over and the perennials are just sprouting, as are the roses.

The hornets don’t harm the wasps at our place, at least we still have wasps. The hornets strip the lilac for me and always nibble on the best pears. But they deserve it.

It rained. A few liters. Phew. Everything is turning green. The last trees and bushes have gotten leaves (don't forget we are almost 55 North, 11 East) - The solar lights from Aldi make beautiful colorful light in the bushes in the evening.
