Not watering in the sun is correct, but grass seed that is supposed to germinate must not dry out, it must always be moist. It can happen that it burns. It is a bad time to overseed.

Above all, water thoroughly rather than often and briefly, so that the roots grow deep

But not with new seed. It has no roots deep down… :p Later, you can then use this strategy to encourage the lawn to develop deeper roots.

- Newly sown lawn must always be kept moist. Surface watering is sufficient here. For example, 5 minutes every hour.

- Existing lawn should be watered generously 2-3 times a week. Best in the early morning hours. The soil is cold and does not evaporate quickly. Watering in the evening is bad because moisture promotes fungal growth and diseases.
If you take it to the extreme (e.g., golf courses), dew is brushed off in the morning.

Watering can also be done during the day. Lawns do not "burn" from watering. Somehow it holds up... the only disadvantage is that a large part evaporates and does not reach the roots.
"Burning" affects large-leaf plants. Not lawns.

Exceptions are various types of lawn grass and very sandy soil. Here, daily watering may be sensible.

We also don't have a full lawn yet where there once was a tree and reseeded a few days ago. Today, we also fertilized (ALDI). Let's see how it looks at the end of June.

Succulents - like many other plants - should not be pampered with water! Their roots do not develop properly and they become delicate. If it is only seeds or plant cuttings in substrate (as it was with us), you have to moisten thoroughly several times, but that's it. They are made to be robust.

There is nothing worse than planting a new hedge and immediately watering it (electronically/automatically). That only results in delicate plants. Lawns are the same, just don't pamper them at the beginning! They only root shallowly and then you can keep watering like that forever. A good lawn is dense because the blade is wide (strong), not because there are many!

That's what our relatives drilled into us (Galameister and Head-Greenkeeper)
