Take a look at our first lawn here... we sowed it about a week and a half ago.
Do you think it's okay like this and will get dense, or should I reseed the bare spots? Or should I wait another week first?

I would definitely water thoroughly first, especially now that it is so incredibly hot. Overseeding never hurts

I would wait and see. Lawn has a development time of 6 weeks, I think I heard. You can always overseed.

First of all, make sure you get it over the hot days, I honestly think your chances are relatively poor.
Reseeding later.

Common lawn mixtures contain a lot of [Lolium Perenne], which germinates after about 1 week. I suspect the large areas will remain bare. More important than overseeding is to find out why it is so patchy? Uneven watering? Poor soil? I would check and possibly correct that before overseeding.
