Actually, ants don’t eat radishes. Generally, they don’t eat plants, leaves, or roots. Are you sure it’s not slugs at work there? However, marigolds are popular with them anyway – the perfect victim plant.

No, only ants. No snail is crazy enough to go through so many ants.
Apart from a few snails with shells, I haven’t come across any this year either. My heartfelt thanks to the two drakes from across the street.
Ants are the only ones I have discovered there so far, and they go for the radishes. They are more covered than the peonies. I had to wash the radishes outside first yesterday.

I also like cosmos.. I have been trying for the 2nd year to grow them in trays myself, but somehow I have no luck. They only germinate very sporadically. Fortunately, they self-seed quite well.. Here is an interesting variety from last year.. small flower, big plant.. had self-sown all by itself..

I also defend self-seeding :)

But when I read through the lawn dramas here, I'm really glad we don't have a lawn. Wow, it really is work to keep it looking nice.

I think if we had a lawn, it would be a rustic lawn area, dotted with daisies, dandelions, clover, and various grasses whose names I definitely wouldn't know.
