Diligent

The few square meters of meadow have been mowed and the thistles pulled.

And it rained and it is still raining.

It rained here too. In between, even quite heavily for a longer time. But unfortunately, it was only a drop in the ocean. The soil already looks just moist again. Something is supposed to come today. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Because of the dry air, our beech hedge is full of lice [fehlt jetzt auch noch]! And some plants survived the first winter, but now - after the second winter - they are dead. Seven of them, just completely dry, no life left in them.

It has FINALLY rained here again. I have already had to water twice this month because it was so incredibly dry. My barrels are now all about half full.

Plants that are actually hardy but newly planted should still be provided with winter protection for 2-3 years. At least, that's what the gardener told me from whom I bought part of the new flowering hedge. I lost a rose this winter and almost my entire ranunculus except for 2 canes, even though it had winter protection and there was enough precipitation. Some loss is always to be expected.

I'll try to catch up from the beginning of the thread:

Haydee, I also really like the stone walls! Very chic! I always find sandboxes rather daring, because of the risk of misuse as a cat toilet or ant colony home.

Nordlys, I am curious to see how your bed develops. It certainly looks harmonious. But in any case, I would still plant more. I would be concerned that too many weeds will spread in the meantime, because it will take quite a while before it is overgrown.

Müllerin: The garden will definitely be beautiful! Very nice start!

Fummelbrett: Wow, that's a big garden with lots of planting. Amazing. I wish the new trees good growth!

Merymery: I really like the pond. How big is the replacement pond supposed to be?
