Ah great, I'll take a closer look at them. Regarding being susceptible to wind, I would have to take another look. The wind often blows a lot and would then blow right "in their face." I think up to about 1.50 meters would still be okay. It's not about shielding ourselves completely so that no one can see that I'm in the garden, but more about a bit of coziness (we don't even have a fence to the neighbor). I also like coneflowers and could well imagine them in front of the perennials.

The wind could really become a problem since perennials usually have rather thin stems and no branches like shrubs. Maybe a loose flowering hedge made of shrubs would be an alternative?

We have shrubs that are supposed to eventually form a privacy screen. All different with various blooming periods, so that there is something for the eye as well.

My flowering hedge is slowly taking shape. The butterfly bushes are already really big; I had to prune them because they were growing so wildly. The forsythia is finally picking up speed now. The weigela and the smoke bush are also growing nicely. The jasmine is rather slow, but that’s normal. For some reason, my ranunculus has almost completely disappeared, so I planted a white forsythia there instead, which is supposedly interesting for bees, unlike the yellow relatives. The first bloom was also very pretty, pink-white. In any case, I think that all in all, in about 1-2 years, we will also have a visual screen thanks to this flowering hedge. Planted in autumn 2018.

Unfortunately, we do not have a large plot of land, so I mounted the raised bed on the wall. Our daughter will be happy; a few cucumbers and 2-3 melons will surely grow.
